Tincture vs Vaping

Posted on October 22nd, 2021 to CBD Oil

Is there a rhyme to the reasoning behind the new CBD vaping trend? Vaping has increased in popularity over the last decade, despite campaigns discouraging youth from buying these products. But how does CBD vaping compare?

One of the benefits of the inhalation method (vaping) is that this allows the active ingredient to directly enter the bloodstream through the capillaries in the lungs. The FDA recently approved the use of Trudhesa, an inhaled medication used to treat migraine headaches. This could also be an effective way to receive pain treatment for patients who are chronically ill and cannot swallow such as in throat or thyroid cancers. This route also avoids the first pass metabolism faced by both edibles and tinctures, which have a large amount removed from the bloodstream through the liver.

Another factor to consider is safety, as the research behind the side effects of any type of vaping is still emerging. Many of the campaigns mention the uncertainty you can face in the added ingredients in vaping “juice”. As well as unknown long term effects on lung, throat, and mouth health, such as those that were speculated years later in nicotine vaping.

Lastly, some studies have shown that at high temperatures CBD can carboxylate into other cannabinoids such as THC or CBN. This can be a benefit if you enjoy full spectrum CBD, but if you are used to THC free CBD isolates this may not be what you are looking for.

More traditional routes of administration include tinctures, which are taken sublingually (under the tongue). Our in-house made tinctures are formulated with all natural ingredients and utilize a combination of cannabinoids and essential oils to provide effective results.

When used together cannabinoids elicit the entourage effect which causes them to act more efficiently on the body by reducing the activity of the FAAH enzyme. This allows your body’s natural endocannabinoids from being degraded and allows them to enact their anti-inflammatory and calming effects. Here at Hempeutics we also offer suppositories for effective and fast acting CBD.
